February 10, 2005

Hi,

I hope everyone has recovered reasonably from the holiday season. How are those New Years resolutions coming? ( never mind, Its Feb. now so we should be forgetting all about that fairly soon). We just got back from Warren Hills Smooth Jazz Cruise which once again was a blast. It was great to see so many of you onboard.

I’m very excited because I’ve just finished recording a new CD ( my first one for the Narada Jazz label). I’m planning on calling it “Temptation” and its due for release around May. Its also the first time that I’ve worked with producer Paul Brown and I think the collaboration has helped us both to break some new ground musically. Don’t worry, there’s still some tried and true Golub funk tracks on the record featuring the usual suspects,.Steve Ferrone on drums, Mitch Forman on Keys and Dave Carpenter on acoustic bass. But there’s also some moodier, Chill oriented things that when combined with my bluesier sound creates a unique approach that I think is really cool. I hope when you hear it you’ll agree with me. We’ve also got some urban grooves on the record too, one arranged by Brian Culbertson ( another first for my records) and 2 tracks featuring Euge Groove on sax ( yet another first ).There’s quite a few more new people involved with this recording but you can check all that out when you pick up the CD.

For now I’m going to take a few weeks to chill( living in New York I mean that literally, it’s cold here in Feb.!) before spring and summer touring dates begin. We’ll be posting them here on the website as they come in. I hope to see you then.

All the best in 2005
