1. Trey Antastasio - electra 2002
Trey is the guitarist for the band” Phish”.I prefer this to the recordings that I’ve heard of him with the band. This has some really great rock music recorded in the spirit of improvisation and blending of diverse influences of latin, funk, jazz ect..Some tracks are better than others but I absolutely love the first song”Alive Again”. This is the kind of stuff that made me want to play guitar. Improvisation has been lacking in popular rock music for quite a few years now so I’m glad to hear someone still playing this style with a CD that seems to be doing well.

2. Los Lobos ,“Good Morning Aztlan - Mammoth 2002
Another great rock CD. Cool guitar playing. Reminds me of really good Eric Clapton ( not the schmaltzi stuff). Again, I’m not sure about the entire recording but there are a few stand outs on the CD. I really like “Hearts of Stone” and “Luz de Mi Vida”.

3. Carol King - “Tapestry" - 1971
A real classic. These are all such great songs.

4. Richard Galliano - “French Touch“ - Dreyfus Jazz,1998
Philippe Saisse turned me on to this CD. Richard’s a French Jazz Accordion player. This is really cool acoustic jazz with a Mediterranean feel to it.

5. Coleman Hawkins - “the Genius of Coleman Hawkins” - Verve
I may have mentioned this CD before but even if I did,Coleman’s worth mentioning twice. One of the truly bad Cat’s.Big tenor tone, relaxed feel, great lines.
