What's In My CD Player?

April 4, 2005

1.Horace Silver - “In Pursuit of the 27th Man”. This CD features a young Michael and Randy Brecker on sax and trumpet and they are already killin’ it

2.”Collection” Donny Hathaway - As far as I’m concerned he and Stevie Wonder started this more riff oriented style R&B singing and are still the best

3.”Peace” Back by popular demand, Keb Mo - Very inventive takes on these cover songs that all have a common theme, peace.

4. Maroon 5 - OK so I’m not so up to date on my pop music. This is new band to me and I think they’re great.

5. Wes Montgomery “Tequila”. This is thought of as one of Wes’ “Sell Out” recordings but the title track is worth the price of admission right there. They also added a few alternate takes to the CD that don’t have any string overdubs and show just how great the original sessions we’re before they tried to make them sound like muzak.Just Ron Carter on bass, Grady Tate on drums, Ray Barreto on percussion and Wes. That’s pretty swinging quartet, I wish they would remix the whole CD that way.
